This is a wide, flat, gravel loop around a now-defunct reservoir that used to supply water to the city of Morgantown. Now, the reservoir basin consists of vegetation regrowth and some wetlands, and is a great vantage for bird and wildlife viewing.

This short trail is accessed via a connector from the Lower Parking Area. It can be extended by including the set of woodland trails on the southeast end of the park. On weekends when the upper gate is open, parking is available near the West Virginia Botanical Garden Welcome Center for this short loop. If the gate is not open, parking is available in the parking lot off Tyrone Road, and the Reservoir Loop Trail can be accessed by a short run down the road. There are numerous species of trees and other plants, birds, and herps in the botanical gardens.
