Need to Know

If you make this a loop by following the AT: Green Mountain Club south, note that this stretch of the AT is level, but super rocky. There are large pointy rocks sticking out of the trail that will break your stride, making travel over this section take longer than you anticipate.

Description

This is a mostly gentle ascent to the summit of Green Mountain. It begins at one end of the Green Mountain Connector #426 and ends at an intersection with the AT: Green Mountain Club at Little Rock Pond. Limited vistas can be enjoyed here, but it's a gorgeous trail overall. The descent from the peak is steep but ends at the beautiful Little Rock Pond.

You can make this a loop by parking near the start of the Green Mountain Connector #426, following it to the Green Mountain Trail, and then following the AT: Green Mountain Club south.

Flora & Fauna

There are large patches of thick moss at the summit that carpet the ground in soft emerald cloud-like formations. This alone is worth the run.

Wow, what a journey for my first Vermont trail run! Made it halfway up the trail before I ran out of daylight, so I turned back. I'll definitely be… 4mi — 0h 50m
