Description
Basin Falls Trail is a very short trail that leads to two pretty waterfalls - Basin Falls and Upper Falls, at the far end of
Waterfall Loop Road and/or
Waterfall Loop Nature Trail. To find this trail, run
Waterfall Loop Road or
Waterfall Loop Nature Trail. After about a half mile, at the Myrtle Flats picnic table on the left, continue straight to go onto Basin Falls Trail. This is not marked.
Basin Falls Trail is a flat, forested trail in the dense, lush vegetation of the steep sided Swanson Creek Valley. The trail starts along Swanson Creek, a little above the creek that is to the left of the trail. Almost immediately,
Knobcone Trail to Knobcone Point, is passed. Basin Falls Trail then crosses a branch of Swanson Creek, and following another branch of the creek, comes upon Upper Falls, a waterfall in a very pretty setting.
Shortly after passing Upper Falls, Basin Falls Trail arrives at a trail junction with
Contour Trail. Go right at this trail junction to stay on Basin Falls Trail. In the dense vegetation, following the creek to the right of the trail, Basin Falls is soon reached.
Basin Falls Trail ends at Basin Falls.
Flora & Fauna
