Overview
The loop can be accessed from three points. For the full experience, start from Hawthorne Lake and follow the
Lenape Ridge Trail to the loop with the
Minisink Trail.
Need to Know
You'll need two vehicles or a ride to complete the run as mapped. Alternatively, you can following the
Lenape Ridge Trail back to the trailhead where you started.
Description
The trail starts along an old forest road for a short distance then turns left onto a trail marked with red blazes. The trail can be a little difficult to find at the beginning.
The trail descends until you reach a railroad track. Turn left and follow the track for only 50 feet until it turns back into the forest. The trail parallels the tracks as it ascends. At about 2.5 miles you reach the Lenape Ridge. Follow the ridge until you reach the end where the trail meets the
Minisink Trail.
Make a sharp right turn onto the
Minisink Trail. This section of the loop does not have any views. The trail gradually ascends on a steep side angle until it reaches the
Lenape Ridge Trail. If you have another car parked at the Minisink Trailhead along Route 6, you can follow the
Minisink Trail out. If not, return the way you came on the
Lenape Ridge Trail.
