This trail begins on blue blazes. The blue blazes do not continue very far, but the trail should be easy to follow. There were several trees fallen across the path in 2018, and they may still be there. This part of the trail starts following along various streams and creeks that eventually empty out into Lake Winfield Scott.

Eventually after a mile or so, you'll reach Lake Winfield Scott Recreation Area, emptying out onto Jarrard Gap Road and soon the shore of Lake Winfield Scott.
