Trinity Trails: Cowtown Wakepark Loop

There is a water fountain at the Cold Springs Trailhead, including a low bowl for dogs. The facilities building at Cold Springs belongs to the wakepark, so it is not open right now for trail users. There are trash cans and some shade at the trailhead, but no restrooms, and the trails themselves have very little shade. Bring plenty of water and sunblock!

There is heavy bike activity so riders will be passing you often.

This loop off the Trinity Trails circles the Cowtown Wakepark, which unfortunately has not reopened since the floods, but the grounds still make for a nice run. The trail is a wide easy concrete path, so you could run, bike, skate, or push a stroller with no problems. Parts of the path are on the riverbank so you have pretty views.

The Trinity Trails system is over 70 miles of trails connecting multiple neighborhoods and parks, encompassing trailheads, water fountains, low water crossings, kayak launches, equestrians, and gravel trail segments.

The Trinity River teems with life! All kinds of birds including great white and blue herons, cattle egrets, scissortail flycatchers, and other songbirds. The river itself hosts freshwater mussels, turtles, fish, and beavers. Wildflowers bloom consistently through from spring to fall, so there are always bees and dragonflies and damselflies.
