There is a $6 parking permit for using the Macedo Ranch staging area.
Overview
This is a pleasant loop run that provides a scenic route and a manageable distance.
Description
Start at the Macedo Ranch staging area, and begin up the fire road. After roughly 0.5 miles up hill, bear right onto
Wall Point Road. Head over a shoulder and down a winding dirt fire road, through trees to
Stage Road in the valley. Left on
Stage Road as it crosses a stream several times, which will be dry in the summer. Beautiful old oak trees, views of rock outcroppings - and lots of Poison Oak.
Follow
Stage Road for about 1.3 miles until you go through a gate and see a small picnic area on your left. Look for the sign post indicating
Little Yosemite Valley Trail cutting back to your left. This is a singletrack trail not allowing bikes. This cuts pretty steeply up out of the valley floor onto the ridge where you started. Some great views up top of the ridge line, rock outcroppings and Mt. Diablo peak.
When you reach the ridge, turn left again onto
Briones to Mt. Diablo Regional Trail and after 0.4 miles your at the starting intersection and follow
Wall Point Road to your right, back down to your car.
