Leaving the Fremont Lake Trail #48, this trail ascends further heading southwest. Zigzag up the mountain south of the lake with a shortcut to the lake joining after half a mile. Views across the West Walker River valley open up. After about 1 mile, you reach Chain of Lakes, a series of small lakes. Leave Long Lake Route #31 to your left and continue west as you head towards Walker Meadows. Pass by a few unnamed lakes on your left. The trail ends after crossing the West Fork West Walker River at an unnamed trail that leads to Emigrant Pass.
