Need to Know
There are water pumps at the start of the trail, as well as about the halfway point, near the outer edge of the peninsula.
Description
Unquestionably one of the best short runs in the area, this trail follows the shoreline of a lovely peninsula on Star Lake. The terrain is varied, though never difficult, and the vegetation changes considerably throughout given the short length of the trail. There is a shorter, 1.0 mile loop that can be done by taking a "shortcut" about half way to the end of the peninsula, but it would be a mistake to do so, as the best shoreline running, views, and beaches are in the outer loop. There are also interpretive signs along the way which are very interesting, as well as an offshoot trail taking you to Black Lagoon.
We went in the fall, but will be returning in the summer with a picnic and our swimsuits - the outer peninsula area has a picnic table, fire pit, and lovely sand beaches surrounded by impressive rocks!
