Runner Notes
This trail is among the more well-maintained trails in the park, but connects to several that are very rough. A lot of fun, but only with the right preparation - users should consider long socks or pants to avoid various pokey plants if they plan on adventuring onto the connecting single tracks.
Description
Starting from the barn/main parking area, this trail heads south through a picnic area before turning east (left) and tracing the border of the woods.
The actual "Indian Trail" is not particularly well signed, but by avoiding any trails heading deep into the timber users are able to complete a fairly obvious half-loop until this trail connects with the
Red Rock Trail. Turn right onto red rock, heading north; the prairies here are divided by a stand of trees before arriving at the
Toboggan Slope Trail, which can take users back towards the parking area.
A number of other trails connect to the Indian Trail, allowing for some really delightful freestyle exploration for those running for time, and not mileage.
Flora & Fauna
Deer and wild turkey are frequent compatriots. The prairie is exceptionally well-maintained, and provides a spectacular display throughout the growing season. Swaying grasses give way to stands of sumac and dogwood, as well as stands of young birch and aspen trees.
