Overview

Expect flat terrain along a singletrack dirt road. Particularly, this is an enjoyable run in the cooler months. Consider a bug net and bug spray in this area as mosquitoes are prevalent here.

Description

The Awendaw Passage is the coastal portion of the Palmetto Trail. The trail starts at the Buck Hall Recreation Area Trailhead. This trail continues to wander westward through maritime forest and offers great views of the Low Country marshes along Awendaw Creek.

Continue onward via the Palmetto Trail: Swamp Fox Passage for a backpacking trip, end a point-to-point day run at Steed Creek Trailhead, or head back the way you came for an all-day journey.

Well maintained, clean and well marked. A little bit of mud but not bad. Very flat. 7.2mi — 1h 15m
