Description
This is a short and fairly easy singletrack trail to the summit of Observation Peak; however, to get to it you must run a good distance. You can take the
Observation Trail #132 from the west for the easiest access, from the east for a longer moderate route, or via
Trapper Creek Trail #192 and/or a variety of other trails in the wilderness for a more difficult route. Many loops can be made.
The actual trail is clearly signed on
Observation Trail #132. Simply follow the trail to the southeast as it steadily climbs a pleasant grade to the top. There were huckleberry bushes along the way that add snacks and colors in the later summer and fall. At the top, you should have excellent, clear views to St. Helens, Rainier, the Goat Rocks, and Mount Adams. Views south include Hood and Jefferson on a clear enough day. There is a decent amount of room at the summit to enjoy the views.
