Description
This trail begins in a large unpaved parking lot near the Jerome Country Club. The path, which is an old derelict highway, descends immediately into the canyon. It passes by a seasonal cascade and waterfall that carry runoff from the golf course above. The cliffs above the trail contain numerous bird life—swallows, hawks, ravens, and more. The trail leads down to the river and an old bridge that used to be a main crossing of the Snake River in the area. Some people use this to access good fishing spots along the river. There are several paths that branch off the main trail, but it is easy to keep on the main path. The river is a little swift in places, but there are a few decent spots that one could swim in. However, you should take care to avoid rapids and wear a life jacket.
