Need to Know
Bath house behind the playground, but it's closed in the winter. There is a large dog park across the street.
Runner Notes
A few swampy areas. Steps in a few locations. A few bridge and log crossings.
Description
Loop A starts in the main parking lot. Proceed through the picnic shelter and playground area, past the bath house. Don't let the kids stop here, or you'll never do the full trail. The playground is the reward for after the run! Bath house closes in the winter. The trail takes off behind the bath house.
There is an A loop and a B loop and they form a figure eight, so you can go either way. I prefer going to the left because it's all downhill (wink, wink, nod). At the intersection of the loops, stay left. Continue on until you come to a road crossing. Cross the road and proceed. Several areas are low and swampy so good shoes help.
Somewhere along the way is a bamboo grove. Fun for the kids to hide in, but please don't leave them there. Pack out what you pack in.
After about two miles, you'll come to a small bridge crossing the river and opening up to a field and gravel round. This is where this map turns around and goes back the way you came. If you would like to finish the trail for a total of approximately 2.5 miles, then proceed up the gravel road where the trail will pick up again. You'll once again come to the intersection of the two loops. Stay to your left and make your way back to the top where the playground is located. You're done.
Bring your discs if you like to play disc golf or bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the playground with the kids.
Flora & Fauna
Not too much usually... normal bugs and stuff. I think we've scared all the deer away.
