Need to Know
Parking is on the west side of the Mt. Rose Highway, opposite the trailhead. It is a large paved pull-out half a mile north (uphill) of the Vista Lookout. For a point-to-point, park at car along the highway (SR-28) near Tunnel Creek Cafe. The trail comes out on the hill behind the Cafe.

Description
Relatively level trail meanders along the hillside at about 7,600 feet above the southeastern end of Lake Tahoe. The trail crosses several small creeks and traverses the Diamond Peak Ski area. At 6.5 miles, the trail intersects the
Tunnel Creek Road.
For a point-to-point 9.0 mile run, continue downhill 2.5 miles to the Tunnel Creek Cafe. This is a popular hiking, mountain biking and running trail.
Flora & Fauna
Jeffrey Pine forest, wildflowers in late Spring to mid-Summer. Habitat for black bear, deer, bobcats and a variety of birds and small mammals.
