Need to Know
The park is free and open to the public, but does have open hours. There seem to be plans to put in a restroom facility, but for now, there are portable toilets.
Description
Red Jacket Valley Park was recently acquired and is being developed as a multi-use public park. The trail runs pretty much along the outer edge of the park. There are views of the Le Sueur River from trail and it runs through grassy and wooded areas and is either dirt, grass or gravel. Sometimes the trail gets washed out in the low areas if there has been a lot of rain.
Anglers sometimes fish in this park. People go swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, or canoeing in the quarry lake.
Flora & Fauna
Geese nest on the islands in summer and there are lots of birds to see. There has also been a beaver dam on one of the islands. Toads and frogs are abundant in spring. The old quarry lake is stocked with fish.
