Description

Wolf Creek trail #0384 Is a 5 mile loop trail located in the tall pines off from Senator Highway and Wolf Creek Road. When Senator Highway turns to dirt, turn at the first right which is Wolf Creek Road. Within a quarter mile there is a parking area on the right with a #0384 Forest Service marker. Its free to park. You can either cross Wolf creek Road and begin your journey that way or run up the road at the parking area. Either way has is steep and rugged difficulties.

This trail is approved for everyone, including quads and ATVs. Much of the trail is either rocky or covered in deep sand. No trash cans. Pack it out!
From the right, the ascent rounds the top of the hill and flattens off before it sharply descends mainly on wide and rocky drainage ditches. At the base it crosses Wolf Creek Road about a mile or so past the campgrounds.

There is another trailhead here if you wish to run the trail from a different start point. Not long after you cross and go past a gate, on the left, there is the largest based Manzanita that I have ever seen. The descent continues sharply into the lowest point. At the point the gnarly road/trail start to wind its way back up in elevation through the trees. AT many points which are great for a rest, the trail comes very close to Wolf Creek. Even in the dry season many of the points still have some water in them.

There are mining claims all along the area. Wolf Creek Falls is located in here, but it is not marked and I never found it. As the trail turns/forks to the left the trail narrows and a good deal of it is dry river bed. The Ascent is quite steep in areas as it meanders its way back up to Wolf Creek road. This portion of the trail is very pretty. This trail is also not recommended for anyone not accustomed to rougher runs.
