Description
There are multiple parking options depending on where you want to start your run. To get to the main parking area take your first left after turning off of Highway 7 and then take the first gravel road on your left. The parking area has a porta-potty provided by Columbia cycling club.
The trail is mostly used by mountain bikers, so I recommend a counterclockwise run of the trail so that bikes don't sneak up on you. Please watch out for bikers and kindly give them the right of way. The first Sunday of each month is backwards day and makes for a great time to run the trail clockwise.
Starting the trail counterclockwise you complete the most difficult portions of the trail within the first four miles. After that, the trail descends into the ravine loop and remains easier until the end. The trail has multiple emergency exits if you need to bail.
The trail is maintained by volunteer members of the Columbia Cycling Club. The club also holds several fun events at the park including the Duck River 15k Trail Run, the Jailbreak Triathlon, and the Chickasaw Trace Classic (mtb race) .
Flora & Fauna
Whitetail deer, squirrel, chipmunk, armadillo. Multiple varieties of trees, trillium, toothwort, etc.
