Dogs Off-leash
Features
Fall Colors · Views · Wildflowers
This is a day-use only site; no overnight parking or camping. The trails are open year round; but running or riding during wet conditions is discouraged.
Need to Know
The trailhead has pit toilets but no water. The trail system is directional with portions open only to bikers and others open to both runners and bikers. Stay off the biker-only trails and watch for bikers on the mixed use trails.
The best running and riding conditions are in the spring and fall or early in the day in the summer. Summers can be very hot and dry, and winter freeze-thaw can make the trail muddy and slippery.
Description
This trail starts from the
RAT Pack Trail at about 1,400 feet elevation and climbs gently up White Spring Branch Canyon. It then turns to the southeast and executes a sweeping switchback followed by a shorter switchback before ending at a junction with the
RAT Pack Trail just below the saddle off the east side of Tin Pan Peak. There are views of the Rogue River valley on the way up, with wildflowers in the spring and colorful leaves in the fall. Combine it with the Darkside and
RAT Pack Trail for a good exercise run.
Flora & Fauna
Watch out for poison oak, ticks, and rattlesnakes, particularly if you let your dog off-leash.
