There are many spots on this trail that are prone to flooding. In order to control these many small gangways have been installed throughout the trail. However, this does not solve the problem everywhere. Additionally (while this is not an issue while ascending) on the descent at the end of the trail, the slopes are prone to washing out. Please be aware of this if you are hiking after a rainstorm.

This is a trail that runs through the heart of People's State Forest. Despite its proximity to various forest roads, this trail lends a sense of wilderness to the runner as they traverse this large, contiguous forest.

This trail begins by branching off of the Robert Ross Trail (Blue) shortly after the Stone Museum Nature Center. It descends as it crosses over Greenwoods Road for the first time. It then turns north and begins to ascend paralleling both the road and a small, unmarked stream. It continues on its ascent until it passes a parking and picnic area on Greenwoods Road and levels off. There is one other small incline before the trail levels off for a good while.

The trail then descends slightly once it begins to intersect with various other trails around Beaver Brook. For the next short time, the trail runs along the marshes associated with this brook. The trail then hops onto Greenwoods Road for a short time before turning back towards the marshes. Here it passes a spur trail to a boardwalk into the marsh.

Finally, the trail double tracks with Beaver Brook Road for a short while, heads back into the forest, crosses over Greenwoods Road one final time, and then begins to descend. This descent is shorter and steeper than the ascents at the start of the trail. The trail ends at a small roadside parking area on East River Road.
