Description
This is one of many loops that can be experienced at the Boston Hill Open Space recreation area in Silver City. There are a multitude of unmarked trails and navigating this area can be difficult until you run the network enough to get a feel for where the trails go, connect, and interconnect.
There is a map of the trail system at each of the multiple trailheads for this area, but the trails are not marked or labeled. This network of trails is a perfect destination if you are strapped for time and cannot commute to outlying trails or winter weather has made trails outside of town too snow packed or too muddy to enjoy.
One of the easiest and most direct ways to access this network of trails is at the Market Street trailhead. From here, take the singletrack until it meets up with a doubletrack trail near the beginning of the old mine pits. Turn right onto the doubletrack and briefly follow it until you see a narrow and unmarked singletrack trail that heads up to the highest point in this area at the summit of Boston Hill. Follow the trail around the uppermost part of Boston Hill until you meet back up on the doubletrack and can access the connector that will take you back to the parking area. Feel free to explore the multitude of trails and segments to make for a longer day of fun in this area.
Be careful when around the mine pits as they are steep and deep and could pose a significant fall risk. Also note that landowners have recently restricted access to some of the trails on the eastern slop of the recreation area. "Private Property" signs mark these areas and are conspicuously placed and easy to identify.
