The Horse Hockey Trail loops off of the Patapsco Thru Trail Woodstock Section just south of the Mckeldin River Crossing South. The trail immediately heads uphill straight up a ridgeline along a skinny trail with numerous obstacles such as roots, rocks, and trees. As you get to the top of the hill the trail levels out a bit and opens to a field of grass and wildflowers. From here the trail follows the edge of the forest before turning back into tree cover and crossing a small stream. Next the trail offers a view down a sizable gorge before turning back southwest and beginning its descent. This trail is littered with obstacles of various sizes and makes for strenuous running along its slopes.
