There is no designated parking on Damon Road (southwest end), and from that end, the trail is easy to miss; the route simply follows the eastern and northern edges of the pasture until it reaches a break in the trees near Limestone Creek.

Expect a muddy and uneven trail with tall, encroaching weeds in low areas; this makes up only a small part of the trail, but is significant enough to warrant long pants and a waiting change of socks.

This trail follows the northwestern edge of the Tioughnioga Wildlife Management Area, which coincides with the borders between the Towns of Cazenovia and Erieville. Despite its geometric appearance on the map, the trail meanders naturally through mixed deciduous and evergreen forest and over several small streams.

An established and well-marked trailhead can be found at the northeast end of the trail, at the south end of Irish Hill Road, with a large pull-out for parking. From there, the trail drops gently toward Damon Road at the southwest end, where it crosses East Branch Limestone Creek and terminates in a horse pasture.

Trees include walnut, maple, birch, and eastern cedar. Toward the southwestern end, the trail passes through a stand of apple trees.
