Description
Access the Green Trail via the Kishwaukee River Recreation Path. At the trailhead, head south towards the river. You'll come upon the spring that gives Blackhawk Springs Forest Preserve its namesake. The Sauk and Fox Native American tribes used the land near this spring as a camp during the Blackhawk Wars. Continue on through a small prairie area and head back up the hill to the paved path. Turn right on the paved path and continue for about 0.2 miles, then turn left off the paved path onto the mowed trail. At the next trail intersection turn left. Continue on for the last 0.5 miles until you arrive back at the paved Kishwaukee River Recreation Path.
