Description

While the access road lacks a name, there's a large sign for Mud Pond Trail along Route 116; the access road is just west of Hazelnut Lane. The trail starts from the kiosk and parallels a gated road.

It turns left (away from the road) and descends over a series of small switchbacks. Shortly, after passing by Mooseway (on the left), the trail changes to the boardwalk. Here, the trail travels through a low bog or swampy area. The trail comes out to the end of the boardwalk, where there are excellent views of the pond.

Flora & Fauna

Flora: Sheep Laurel, Pitcher Plants, Pickerelweed, Eastern Hemlock, Leatherleaf.
Fungi: Chanterelles, Boletes.
Fauna: Mosquitoes, Deer Flies.
