The 50-mile course takes racers through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville, past many gold and silver mines. It will begin at the Cloud City Ski Hut (located just below Colorado Mountain College on Hwy 24 on the south end of Leadville). Some of the route is on roads, be careful of cars and 4x4s.

The route starts behind Colorado Mountain College, and joins up with the Mineral Belt Trail briefly. Then you go past the Lake County airport on your right and turn left at the end of the airport. Turn right onto County Rd 6A. Sharp left onto County Rd 2B and go past Printer Boy Hill (on your right).

Follow until taking a right onto County Rd 1B. Take a right onto County Rd 3B. The turnaround point is at the end of County Rd 38A. Then turn around and come back to Leadville.
