Need to Know
The route is fairly remote and no services are present anywhere. Be prepared to be completely self-contained. There's no water on the route either so you have to carry everything you need with you.
Bring plenty of water, and prepare for some exposure. It is all worth it, however, given the amazing natural history and geology you see along the way. The views on top are phenomenal.

Description
Bring plenty of water, and prepare for some exposure. It is all worth it, however, given the amazing natural history and geology you see along the way. The views on top are phenomenal. The day that I did this trail there was a BLM Trail crew doing maintenance on the trail, and doing a really great job at it.
The trail is fairly wide in those places with minimal tripping hazards as of this writing. There are lots of switchbacks and ridge lines that you need to climb so be cautious about the sun and high temperatures. If you're looking for a work out, do you labs on this road has it's about five miles out and back. There's a very good amount of vertical gain as well.
Flora & Fauna
Plants and wildlife are typical for the inland rages. It's a mix of chaparral species, interior species, and coastal species. This hike is particularly arid, however, but there are some really great endemic plants along this route.
