Some portions of the Bearcamp River Trail are closed due to issues with landowners or neglect. A thru-hike of the full Bearcamp River Trail is not feasible.

This portion of the trail starts from the parking area off Sandwich Notch Road. It travels past Beede Falls and Cow Cave, before leaving Sandwich Notch Park. It travels past the Mead Explorer Base Camp; this is the only place where camping is permitted along this trail. The trail turns right and follows Diamond Ledge Road. It turns left to follow the dirt road in-between the fields. Continue following the road until it enters the woods. In a short distance, you'll pass by the Israel Gilman Cemetery (on the left). From here, the trail becomes rough and poorly maintained. The trail follows the river until it turns towards Dale Road. Turn left onto Dale Road, then left onto Mount Israel Road.

Descend Mount Israel Road to the bottom of the hill, then turn right (just after crossing over the river). Follow the yellow blazes, closely, through this area. Cross a nice footbridge, near the Charlie Crooker Memorial Stone, before coming out to Elm Hill Road. Turn left onto Elm Hill Road and follow this to Plummer Mill Pond Road. Follow Plummer Mill Pond Road to Upper Road. The trail travels three quarters of a mile before coming up to a "Keep Out" sign. You'll have to turn back from here and pick up another open section of the trail.
