Description

A good alternative to road running in this suburban setting and can be linked with other nearby suburban trails. This description starts at the southern side of the trail off the Tangerine multi-use path, although it can obviously be run either direction.

Almost immediately after crossing underneath Tangerine Road in the tunnel, head to your right, going east along an old dirt road, climbing up a short hill. Just after the hill, there's a left hand turn, marked with some rocks that will head north towards a subdivision. Follow this winding path, along a fence line for a bit, and then cross over (bearing slightly left) a culvert. The trail winds its way through cacti and typical desert terrain. There is a little bit of shade amongst trees here and there.

The middle section of the trail crosses over and through the wash for a brief period, but it's seldom sandy for too long. The terrain is a mix of wide and narrow singletrack, largely pretty smooth under foot with the occasional rocky section.

At the top of the trail, you'll climb up a couple switchbacks out of the wash and end up on Moore Road. There is another trail across Moore Road and slightly to the east that links up to Sunset Park.

Flora & Fauna

Wild Hooves is the nickname for the trail derived from frequent sightings of deer, javelina, and some bobcats that use the wash to travel.

Some spots scattered with cholla, and a few tight over grown spots. New private property signs, but I believe trail itself is public? 5.5mi — 1h 02m
