From the parking lot, head south towards the lake. The trail turns right after 200 yards, but stays close to the shoreline for a bit longer. Crossroad Trail joins from the right after half a mile. Continue straight and the trail will start ascending more. Cross North Slope Trail after 1.3 miles. There is a bench with an amazing view right past the junction. Continue a little further uphill to reach Half a Canoe Loop.
