River/Creek
Overview
This run is not for the faint-hearted. You'll get wet. You'll run along flat fields next to the river, and through the river four times. Paths wind through mountain laurel, challenging hill, numerous switchbacks, singletracks, soft sand, alongside ponds, over roots and rocky spots.
The entire loop is "run-able," but is totally acceptable to walk parts of the course. It is a great SUMMER COOL DOWN!
Spectators can easily view various sections of the race and are encouraged to be at the first river crossing!
Description
Starting at the Springmaid Mountain Resort office, the course winds around to the first crossing of the N. Toe River, then back across after a beautiful trail along the river. The river crossings are wide, but perfect for a hot day. After several miles on the trails above the resort, you return to the river to cross and re-cross at the same locations. Then back to the start.
Flora & Fauna
Horses and mountain laurel.
History & Background
