Description

Castle River Divide Trail is found 5.4 miles from the Red Rock Canyon trailhead at the end of Snowshoe Trail. There is a trail camp here and on the north side of this camp is a sign marking the start of Castle River Divide Trail.

Castle River Divide Trail is a forest trail. It starts in the forest, and stays in the forest to its end on a forested ridge that is the divide between the Castle River watershed to the northwest, and Bauerman/Blakiston watershed to the southeast. Although it is a forest trail, numerous breaks in the trees reveals the dramatic high cliffs and rock walls of mountains in this area.

Castle River Divide Trail climbs continuously, but nothing very steep. At the 0.8 mile mark is a signed trail junction with Lost Lake Trail. Stay to the right (straight ahead) to continue on Castle River Divide Trail. Just before Castle River Divide trail ends is another signed trail junction. To the right/northeast is the trail to run Avion Ridge. Continue straight here to reach the end of Castle River Divide Trail on the ridge top at the Waterton Lakes National Park boundary. Although Castle River Divide Trail ends here, trail does continue down into the Castle River area.
