Runner Notes
Blue flags are marked on the right side of the trail about 1/10 mile or 100m. At intersections, there will be multiple flags directing which path to take.
When passing through the cabins, please watch for cars parked beside the trail.
Wooden footbridges will be very slick when wet.
The start of the last mile, you'll have the biggest climb and steepest descent.
The orange blaze trail is a shared horse trail. If you come across a horse, the horse has the right away. Step aside on the trail and ask the horse rider if you can pass. Pass slowly. You do not want to scare the horse.
Description
This is a family and fur friendly event to raise money for Bama Bully Rescue. Since 2008, we have been rescuing pit bull type dogs from Alabama animal shelters. Our mission is to create breed ambassadors, educate communities about the true nature of the breed, and help bully breed owners spay/neuter their pets. We are honored to be allowed to dedicate this run to the memory of Mary Michaels, an avid runner and proud bully breed mom.
Running for the Bulls is a 3.1 or a one mile trail run (your choice) through stunningly beautiful Oak Mountain State Park. All dogs are welcome and runners are encouraged to bring their "canine coach" with them! Both humans and canines will have an opportunity to medal. Family and friends can shop our extensive raffle items while waiting for their trail warriors to cross the finish line! This is a rain or shine event, so plan for muddy trails and lots of fun!
History & Background
This is Bama Bully Rescue's third year to hold our race at Oak Mountain State Park. The views are amazing and there is always something going on in the park once you've finished the race.
