Need to Know
There are no amenities at this trailhead. Hunting is allowed here and hikers are advised to wear bright (blaze orange) clothing during the season. Wood and deer ticks are very common here during the warmer months - check carefully for them during and after a hike. Blastomycosis, a fungal infection commonly contracted by dogs, is found here. Do not allow your dog to dig in moist soils.
Description
This trail is administered by the National Park Service within the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. It is a simple loop through a pine, oak, and maple forest and past some basalt outcrops. It is a good introduction to the upland forest in west central Wisconsin and is at its best when illuminated by Fall color in October. It can also be snowshoed in winter if there is sufficient snow.
