Need to Know
There are no amenities at this trailhead. Hunting is allowed here and hikers are advised to wear bright (blaze orange) clothing during the season. Wood and deer ticks are very common here during the warmer months - check carefully for them during and after a hike. Blastomycosis, a fungal infection commonly contracted by dogs, is found here. Do not allow your dog to dig in moist soils.
Description
This is one of the four tracts of forest and bluff lands along the Lower St. Croix River that are managed and conserved by the Standing Cedars Community Land Conservancy.
A short distance from the kiosk at the trailhead, this trail splits. Go right (west) here to make a short descent to the lower bluff. There are a few places along this section of the loop with decent views west over the St. Croix River to Minnesota beyond. At 0.6 miles from the trailhead, you reach a trail junction. Go left (east) here and climb briefly to follow the trail along the upper bluff back to the trailhead. Turning right (west) at this junction will take you along an old road that dead ends at a gravel extension of 60th Avenue.
