Overview

Ayres Natural Bridge County Park is a hidden gem in Central Wyoming. The park is an oasis of verdant beauty in an otherwise dry, brown landscape. The namesake of the park is a large solid rock arch carved out by La Prele Creek. It is one of only a few natural bridges in the US that still has water running under it. The bridge was a tourist attraction as far back as the Oregon Trail days. Adventurous settlers would venture off the Oregon Trail to visit this area and relax under the shade of the bridge. The creek still provided some nice fishing and a peaceful picnicking atmosphere.

For current park details and regulations, visit the park's website.

Visiting Tips

The well-maintained park is slightly off the beaten path of I-25. Take Exit 151 (Natural Bridge Exit), between Douglas and Glenrock. The park offers picnic activities and a few camping / RV spots to boot! No pets are allowed in the park and it does close the gates to entry after dark and at various times of the year.
