Castlepoint Park
Overview
Castle Point Park is located in North County south of 270, north of Chambers and east of Halls Ferry Road at 2465 Baroness Street. The 10-acre park offers a picnic shelter, soccer field, baseball field, basketball courts, sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, a playground and spray fountain.
 Â
The land that makes up the Castle Point subdivision was once part of the Walker Plantation established in 1825 by John K. Walker. Two hundred and seventy-three acres of the 350 Walker Plantation was part of a Spanish Land grant given to John Allan and later acquired by John Walker. The land remained in the Walker family until it was sold to a real estate developer in 1928. The Castle Point subdivision is distinguished by its street names, most of which are titles of nobility:  Empress, King, Queen, Duke, Duchess, Earl, Count, Countess, Viscount, Baron, Baroness, and Lord to name just a few. Â
The initial concept for a park site in this area originated around 1983 through a coordinated effort from the Office of Community Development. The land was purchased in 1990 from the St. Casimir Catholic Church and lot owners using funds allocated by the Department of Human Resources through the Community Development Block Grant Fund.  The park was opened in 1995. Â
