Cooper Mountain Nature Park
Overview
This trail system is characterized by well-maintained, wide gravel trails, suitable for hiking, trail running and casual strolling. The 'easy' rating is debatable due to some steep sections, but 'easy' is likely the best rating due to the lack of any other challenges.
All trails descend from the parking lot, and branch out after a short distance down the main access trail. Maps posted at all intersections serve to guide new visitors. There are options for all fitness levels, and for families with children of all ages.
This is a very popular park. Expect to encounter numerous other trail users. The park is large enough, however, that your solitude will mostly be interrupted the closer you are to the parking lot. Also in spite of the popularity of this park is the presence of wildlife. Deer can routinely be spotted in the morning, as well as ground-dwelling animals and birds.
Lastly, while amazing that this needs to be said (again), please mind the park rules, and refrain from straying off the trails, EVEN if you are a professional photographer. The idea of this park is to give the user a sense that they are in a natural area, which is not possible when there are groups ranging off trail, setting up photography equipment.
