Liberty Bell and the Early Winter Spires [Suggest Edits]
Description
Even if you aren't climbing them, these rock formations represent a significant piece of Washington climbing history. What is most impressive is the fact that first ascents in this region were conducted before the highway existed, the climbs had very difficult cross country approaches and no access to support.
Short Run: Park at the Blue Lake Trailhead. Follow the trail up, and proceed off trail towards these formations to the extent you are comfortable. You can scramble around the bases easily and there are good views across the North Cascades from the lower areas of the formation, but to summit will required technical climbing. There are views from the highway itself as well.
Gem Type: Rock Formation
