The Ladders in Bear Hollow [Suggest Edits]
Description
One of the most famous landmarks at Turkey Run. There are three ladders climbing a slippery sandstone wall which sometimes has a waterfall running down. This landmark is unlike anything else in Indiana. Bear Hollow, the canyon the ladders descend into, is reliably foggy in the summertime. It gives the illusion that you are transporting yourself into a tropical, prehistoric world. The only downside to this landmark is that it is very popular. Crowds are not uncommon. In addition, because the ladders descend a cliff, keep kids within an arm's length. Dogs are not recommended at the ladders.
Short Run: The easiest way to get the the ladders is via the Suspension Bridge. After crossing the bridge, immediately take a left. Follow Trail #3 through Bear Hollow to climb the ladders. However, it is equally enjoyable if not more to descend the ladders. The most popular way people descend the ladders is to hike the entirety of Trail #3, beginning by hiking through Rocky Hollow and following the trail from there.
