Brandywine Falls [Suggest Edits]
Description
This beautiful bridal veil type fall is one of Cuyahoga Valley's most popular attractions, and a visit to the falls soon reveals why. Falling over 60 feet, the Brandywine Falls are one of the most beautiful natural features in the park. Formed by the erosion of the Bedford and Cleveland Shales, the falls are capped by the Berea Sandstone. As the softer layers under the sandstone eroded away, the result is this spectacular waterfall.
When the area was originally settled, the falls were considered both lucrative and useful. Grist and woolen mills used to operate in the area, thanks to the power produced by the plummeting water. While the village that once colonized the hills is now mostly gone, keep an eye out for the remains of homes and buildings. You can even stay in the James Wallace house, now operated as the Inn at Brandywine Falls bed and breakfast.
On the Road: A combination of stairs and boardwalks makes up the short distance to reach the falls.
