Description

Often regarded as Glacier's "Crowning Jewel," Logan Pass is one spot in Glacier National Park that visitors won't want to miss. As the highest point on Going-to-the-Sun Road, the views from the pass are almost unrivaled, and the easy access makes this scenic spot a special treat. While it's possible to drive through the pass without stopping, it is recommended that visitors leave their vehicle for a while to explore this beautiful area.

Located on the Continental Divide, Logan Pass is a great place to stretch your legs and enjoy the local wildlife. It's quite likely that you'll see mountain goats or bighorn sheep, and there are even a few brown and grizzly bear sightings each year, though bears are less common in this area. In addition to the local fauna, wildflowers are a major reason to take some extra time here, especially when they are in full bloom in July. Vegetation at Logan Pass tends to consist mainly of open meadows, and visitors will enjoy the uninterrupted views and fields of flowers.

While you're stopped, it's a good idea to take your time and check out some of the trails that start from Logan Pass. There is something for everyone in the area, and a variety of trails are a great way to get a little deeper into the Montana backcountry. Visitors can take the Highline Trail for as far as they would like, and likewise can head out on the Hidden Lake Trail while on the way to a scenic mountain lake. With a wide variety of ways to appreciate Glacier National Park, a stop at Logan Pass is a must.

On the Road: Located right off of Going-to-the-Sun Road, visitors can venture as near or far as they choose.
