Description

Vikingsholm is the huge mansion that you'll see just at the head of Emerald Bay. One of the first summer homes in Tahoe, it was built in 1928 and modeled after Scandinavian architecture. The house is now on the National Historic Register and is part of Emerald Bay State Park. It is considered one of the finest examples of Scandinavian architecture in the US.

After visiting the house, enjoy swimming at the great beach on the beautiful Emerald Bay.

The house is open in the summer for tours for a small fee. More information can be found at vikingsholm.com.

Short Walk: Parking can be very problematic, especially on weekends. Come early! The run down is one steep mile.
