Triple Lakes [Suggest Edits]

Visitors hoping to maximize their chances of seeing some of Denali's famous wildlife will find the strenuous run out to Triple Lakes to be well worth the effort.

Starting from the visitor center, runners will head south on the Triple Lakes Trail. Along the way to the lakes, you'll enjoy a serene, well-made trail while you pass through beautiful dense forest. Because the lakes are situated in the forested part of the park, being able to enjoy the large trees that cover the landscape can be a pleasant break from the tundra that dominates most of the park. The cool shade provided by the coniferous forest also provides the perfect habitat for some of the park's wildlife species. As you make your way through the wet, marshy areas, keep your eyes peeled for signs of moose and beaver. Both of these critters are known to frequent the area and can add a memorable moment to your visit.

While there are three lakes that make up Triple Lakes, it's difficult to say which is superior. All three feature pristine campsites, gorgeous views, and the type of peaceful retreat that many visitors seek. Whether you decide to stay for an afternoon or stay the night, you'll enjoy your time spent near these lovely lakes.

All-Day Run: These lakes can only be reached by running on the Triple Lakes Trail. The closest lake is still a 6.5-mile journey from the visitor center, making this a full day.
