Kananaskis Fire Lookout [Suggest Edits]

Description

This viewpoint is at a modern, operating fire lookout tower with all its out buildings and equipment. Like many fire lookouts, the views from here are amazing. The mountains go on forever in all directions. To the west, several mountains are part of the Great Divide. Additionally, two beautiful, large lakes are seen close by - Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes.

This is a visitor friendly fire lookout, but please don't disturb the staff, their buildings, their equipment, or their vehicles. With that said, be sure to check the mailbox that invites visitors to sign the visitor logbook. Other goodies that enhance the visitor experience, are also in the mailbox.

All-Day Run: The 7.8 mile out and back Kananaskis Fire Lookout Hike takes one to this gem. This run starts and ends at the Boulton Creek Store in Peter Loughheed Provincial Park.
