Stout Grove [Suggest Edits]

Description

Stout Grove is generally considered to be the most scenic redwood grove in the park, and it is topped off by its location next to the beautiful Smith River. Smith River is a Wild and Scenic River that is the last major undammed river in California. It gets its unique jade green color from the serpentine geology.

On the Road: The trail is a short, easy, and family-friendly 0.6 miles. The bridge to cross the Smith River to Jedediah Smith Campground is only installed during summer. The wide gravel bar where the redwoods meet the river offers good swimming and minimal current.
