Snowmass Lake [Suggest Edits]

Description

What I would consider one of the prettiest lakes in all of Colorado, Snowmass Lake features unbelievable views of the Snowmass peaks (Snowmass Peak, Snowmass Mountain, and Hagerman Peak), pristine blue water, and great camping.

While this area does get very crowded, if you show up early enough, you're almost guaranteed a camping spot. Don't miss the sunrise here, it's must-see.

Overnight Trip: The lake can be accessed as part of a long day-run, but I'd recommend coming for an overnight. Camping at Snowmass Lake is only permitted in designated sites, and overnight guests are required to bring bear canisters for food storage.

Overnight stays at Snowmass Lake require advanced overnight permit reservations, which must be purchased at recreation.gov. For more information, check out the US Forest Service's website.

To get here, you can take the Maroon Snowmass Trail or Buckskin Pass Trail from the Aspen side, or the Geneva Lake Trail from the CB side.
