Bear Mountain [Suggest Edits]
Description
Bear Mountain is the highest peak in Connecticut (the south slope of Mount Frissell which peaks just over the border in Massachusetts is technically a few feet higher and constitutes Connecticut's highest point).
It provides wonderful views of the surrounding area. The summit features a monument that (incorrectly) proclaims it as the highest point in the state and a rock pile that provides a nice place to sit and drink in the view. This is a place that every Connecticut hiker should visit.
Half-Day Run: This is only accessible by way of a fairly strenuous, half-day run.
