Description
Called Cascade Chamarel in French, Chamarel Falls is a beautiful plunging falls of 95 meters (312 feet). The cliff and small cave carved by the falls offer a beautiful backdrop to the falls. The water fall is frequently ranked as the top waterfall in Mauritius. The falls are surrounded by lush vegetation typical of the Black River Gorge region in Mauritius.
On the Road: Access is very easy, but requires paying a fee to the Seven Coloured Earth of Chamarel Reserve. The lower view point is accessible only a few feet from the parking lot, but one should take the Chamarel Falls trail to a higher viewpoint for better and less crowded views. Special guides can organize abseiling and access to the falls' pool for swimming.
