Simpson Meadow opens up off the Middle Fork Trail.
The former bridge over the Middle Fork is no longer there, this is why you must cross the river upstream of Simpson Meadow. It's also not a bad place to dip your feet!
Right after the State Lakes junction.
This is sometimes a meadow and sometimes a swamp.
Some lodge pole pines and granite along the trail.
The remaining trunk of a dead lodge pole pine with a "candlelight" marks where the trail begins to climb.
